Annual Smiles Run 5K brings communities together for veterans

This month, compassion turned into action as local businesses, restaurants, and volunteers joined forces to support Smiles for Service — a nonprofit providing free, high-quality dental care to U.S. and Ukrainian veterans.

Where the funds will go

The $20,000 raised will directly support Smiles for Service clinics in:

• Covering dental materials and equipment costs for restorative procedures
• Funding free comprehensive exams and x-rays
• Supporting urgent care for veterans in pain
• Expanding outreach to reach more veterans faster — both in the U.S. and Ukraine

“We can’t repay our veterans for their service,” said Anna Petrenko, owner of The Bluebird Café, “but we can make sure they never feel forgotten.”
